Part - 4 | Finally Career Started | Journey - I

*[Our Batch was last to work on old Configuration Systems (4GB/500GB-i3) in Lab.
Every Computer System is replaced with (16GB/1TB-i7) configuration, this replacement took place after our teaching was over and only CCEE exam & few Module End Lab Exam were left. We got a chance to develop our Projects on it].

After all counselling rounds, I got a mail from CDAC, Pune regarding further Process and Schedule.

Two Days prior course starting, Document Verification Process was arranged in CDAC premise and after that, the next day CDAC organised an orientation program for students from all courses in Aundh, here are the glimpse. The guest during the orientation program gave a wonderful speech teaching as Three Lessons of Life which will help during career. Later Orientation Program followed by lunch.

Two Days After Orientation Program, Real Lectures Started as Follows.

1) First Module was C++ and OOPS, it was taught by Prapful Kolte Sir. Sir thought us each and every concept in a most humorous way and with 3-4 different real-life example that one cannot forget. It's like every sentence that sir says is it itself contains a joke and easy explanation of the concept.  Every day lecture was scheduled in the early morning at 7 AM but by 6:45 AM all front seats were full. There was not a single moment during the lecture you will feel like sleeping (even if you have not slept for the previous night :-). The way sir used to teach, took us to such a high standard of teaching that at some point during other modules you would expect the same way of teaching. But remember you can't compare the teaching method during every module. Sir will easily point the students who use phones during class. Also, sir will tell stories (real experiences) of previous batch students that were a perfect refreshment to make you eager to learn more. Sir will remind you every time with a Quote "Pyaar Mohabbat Dhokha Hai, Padhle Beta Mauka Hai" or "Nazar Hati, Durghatna Ghati". On last day, sir will give Cadbury to those students who were more active and responsive during the lecture, even if they were seating in any corner of the class.
Sir told us that this will be his last batch for teaching, but hope it is not true and you also get to experience the best teaching.

2) The second Module was SDMT (Part - I). In CDAC ACTS at the same time, two modules are going on simultaneously. Software Development Methodology and Testing was completely a theoretical subject, but Part-II has Practical Implementation. It was taught by Chetan Natu Sir,  and sir thought us ways of Software Development Process like Agile, Scrum and Testing using Selenium and TestNg as it was theory part, at end of Part-I i.e 4th Day of Lecture Sir took interesting activities in classroom explaining group activities which had different tasks like blowing balloon, making boats, planning s/w features, discussing and dividing activities in group.

3) The Third Module was OS and it was taught by Kaushal Sharma Sir,
Kaushal Sir is the in-house faculty of CDAC ACTS, during engineering I learned the only theoretical part in OS Subject. But during this module, Sir thought us its Practical Implementation using Shell and C Programming. In the DAC course, only Linux variant OS are thought and OS is very vast but for DESD course it is thought in dept and every company needs candidate having the good hands-on OS and able to do anything through Terminal.

4) The Fourth Module was Advance Web Programming, it was taught by Ravi Tambade Sir. Ravi Sir thought us Basic right from Web Farm Architecture with Diagrams till Validation and Security in HTML, JS, XML and many more things. Be aware that if you from another background of engineering and find it difficult to understand at beginning refer W3School and Practise. Because Web Programming is the easiest and Interesting subject that even 11th Class Syllabus has it. Sir thought us every aspect of creating static and turning it to the dynamic website by using server-side processing with PHP, collecting data into Database, validating input and adding animation to a website and also sending email from server to user and more than syllabus. During Practicals everyone created an E-Commerce Website until the end of the module, using all web technologies thought.

5) The Fifth Module was DBMS which was taught by Kishori Mam, Mam is one of the best external faculty in CDAC. Mam thought us MySQL and Mongo during the module. Also, she was present during Lab as Faculty and Clear most of the doubts during Practicals. The database is the most important subject and every company looks for a candidate who knows RDMBS JOINS, SUB-QUERY very well. Mam thought us from basic and all concepts of the database with implementation and a lot of queries were covered in the classroom and though assignments.

Extra Module:
6) Effective Communication it was taken by Ms Eileen Baratake (Co-founder & Executive Director NEURAL SPACE), this where the relaxing and most interesting session that used to happen once/twice every other week, whenever other batches used to have a lab.
It used to start at 8:30 am (extra sleep) if anyone used to get late for a session then mam sometimes was not allowing later comers for class.
On the first day, we were told to sit in a pair of Two and ask Alternate Questions from EC Book to Each Other to know each, and then come in front and introduce your colleague. This was the funniest activity (I tried the humorous way to introduce).
Here we used to learn different things from grammar, with interesting class exercises (group activities), solving questions from EC-Book (Provided by CDAC) and turn by turn each of us has to read aloud and tell answers. Later we used to have Group Discussion, Mock Interview Practise Session.
Make sure you don't speak Hindi/Marathi during class, other you may get a punishment to show your skills :-)
Attending this session helped us boost confidence and Improve Communication Skills. At the end, of course, we had an MCQ based Exam, PI Exam and Group Presentation on Any Topic, (Ours was "MCU and DC Universe Characters").

How to Study for Above Modules?
1) Do all the assignment that Faculty says during lecture and revise the notes on the same day as you won't get the time later.
2) Keep Asking the doubt Why? When? How? to use and Better/Efficient Alternative.
3) During the break in-between lecture, or when the lecture is over, whether you have a doubt or not go near the desk/stage and listen to questions other students ask faculty. It will help you more to clear the concept.
4)  Search on online resources likes GeekForGeeks, StackOverflow, JavaTPoint, or Foreign University Websites or Documentation for efficient implementation or what they say about a particular concept. Many a time they may have extra information.
5) Here in ACTS, there is no spoon-feeding, sometimes faculty only explain the concept on a basic level, try to get into dept, CRAVE to know how it works internally by asking faculty or search Online? and CARVE theoretical knowledge into a meaningful application/practical implementation.
6) Here at ACTS Labs are open 24*7 for Boys and up to 10 PM for Girls, Utilize efficiently.
7) Sometimes you may feel sleepy during the lecture of some module, and sentences go above the head, I would suggest you grab the seats in the light zone. If you want to seat in front then manage chocolates.
8) Every module has a duration of 1-2 weeks except Java, so plan accordingly to hunt for more knowledge than what rest 240 students have.
9) Think every problem in C++ & DS with STL, OOPS.

RULE-BOOK:
1) Depends Upon the Availability of Faculty sometimes the Lecture starts at 7:00 AM, so make sure you reach class early. In order to make you feel co-ordinator may lock the classroom door and, you may not able to attend the lecture.
2) Don't just go to Lecture only for attendance, the karma returns back during Placement, start putting your own efforts also into the self-learning process.
3) During Lab each System is shared between two students so, If your partner solves assignment in one way, try to solve in other. (In my case, the lab partner was coming only 1-2 day or not even for a week with some/no interest to learn. So All I had complete control on PC)
